Passenger Handling Agent

DIVISION: CAPE TOWN BRANCH
LOCATION: CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PURPOSE
To ensure professional handling of passengers and their baggage on and off flights
and to assist with passenger enquiries, ticket sales and reservations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
2.1 The minimum education requirement is a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
2.2 Must have a Travel and Tourism Diploma or minimum 1 year working
experience within the Airline Industry (Relevant Check-in or Ticketing or
Passenger Handling Course)
2.3 Must have experience within the hospitality industry.
2.4 Must have good communication skills and customer care.
2.5 Must be computer literate on Microsoft Excel and Word.
2.6 Willing to work shifts which include weekends and public holidays.
2.7 Must have reliable transport.
2.8 Ticket sales and reservations experience will be advantageous.
2.9 Will attend training as and when required to do so.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
3.1 To ensure that SA Airlink customers receive excellent service.
3.2 The employee shall be accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in
accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the Operator and
within the confines of the AOC and relevant operational specifications;.
3.3 Responsible for the OHS in their area of responsibility and accountability
reporting into this role.
3.4 Accountable for aviation safety and security in their area of responsibility and
accountability.

RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 Responsible for check-in of passenger and allocation of seats.
4.2 Maintains and monitors standby lists for flights.
4.3 Responsible for passenger’s safety on apron (escorting passengers to the
aircraft).
4.4 Responsible for reservations and ticketing.
4.5 Responsible for dealing with passenger enquiries.
4.6 Assisting passengers with delays and luggage.
4.7 Responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards as
laid out in the manuals of procedure, and Occupational Health and Safety
Standards.
4.8 Will assist with any additional tasks within the context of the job description.
