airlink increases capacity from cape town and mpumalanga

as featured and advertised in the january 2008 issue of Skyways, Airlink's inflight magazine

From 21 January 2008, Airlink will be increasing capacity on its direct daily flights between Cape Town (CPT) and Mpumalanga (MPQ) by 162%. Currently the airline operates the route with 37-seater ERJ135 aircraft; now, by utilising BAE146-200 aircraft this will increase to 97 seats. The increased daily capacity between Cape Town and Mpumalanga amounts to an additional 3500 seats per month. The introduction of the additional capacity is in response not only to increasing business traveller demand but also to demand from tour operators marketing the Kruger destination from Cape Town, giving them the opportunity to secure more seats on Airlinks direct daily CPT-MPQ services. With Nelspruit's KMIA being the gateway to the famous Kruger National Park and a variety of private game reserves such as Mala Mala, Lion Sands, Sabi Sabi, Londolozi and Nottens, this additional capacity is essential to servicing the growing demand for leisure travel to the Kruger region and will provide onward connections with the new services being introduced by long haul carriers such as Delta and Emirates into CPT further stimulating in-bound tourist growth.
