REPORTS TO: QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR
DIVISION: TECHNICAL SUPPORT DEPARTMENT – AMO - QUALITY CONTROL
LOCATION: SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS TECHNICAL, JONES ROAD, HANGAR 2, O R TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Provide Quality Control over all maintenance functions of the Technical Support department in accordance with SACARS and company policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
2.1 The minimum education requirement is a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
2.2 Completed a recognised apprenticeship and holds a trade certificate.
2.3 SACAA License holder (Airlink fleet type preferred) or minimum 5 years post trade qualification aircraft experience.
2.4 Sound knowledge of aircraft technical procedures, documentation and standard practices.
2.5 The ability to work without supervision.
2.6 Must be able to work shifts, including night shift.
2.7 Will attend training as and when required to do so.
3.1 To ensure compliance with SA CAA Regulations in terms of maintenance.
3.2 To ensure maintenance is carried out in accordance with approved aircraft documentation.
3.3 To ensure that the standard of aircraft appearance both internally and externally is acceptable.
3.4 To ensure compliance with regard to the correct compilation of all aircraft documentation, work packs, log sheets etc.
3.5 To ensure that the correct maintenance actions are being performed according to the Approved Aircraft Manuals and or instructions.
3.6 To ensure that the standard of aircraft appearance required by Airlink is satisfactory.
3.7 The employee shall be accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the Operator and within the confines of the AOC and relevant operational specifications.
3.8 Responsible for the OHS in their area of responsibility and accountability reporting into this role.
3.9 Accountable for the management of safety risks and security threats to aircraft operations.
4.1 Perform sample checking on aircraft documentation.
4.2 To raise defect sheets to record any items that need rectification.
4.3 Raising of defect sheets to record items which have been found during a Quality Control Inspection.
4.4 All Technical Logs, Work Order and other aircraft documentation is reviewed on a daily basis, to identify potential problems and to implement follow up action:
a. Regular reports are compiled with regard to best maintenance practices, trouble shooting and rectification in the ramp environment.
b. Any defect that might affect the airworthiness of safety or an aircraft or its equipment is reported to the Chief Inspector
c. All deferred defects are properly recorded and rectified within the time frame stipulated in the MEL
d. That details of defects which are of a safety concern are forwarded for inclusion in the Safety Management System for review
e. Repetitive defects are analyzed to prevent re-occurrence and a culture of preventive maintenance is maintained
f. A Quality Control audit is carried out on all aircraft before they leave the Major Maintenance hangar and are accepted for revenue service.
g. At least two Quality Control audits are carried out during the time an aircraft is undergoing maintenance in the Major Maintenance hangar.
h. Quality Control audits are conducted on a regular basis when an aircraft undergoes maintenance in Hangar number 2.
4.5 Any quality deficiencies in the area of activity for which they are responsible, which may arise from independent quality audits are rectified.
4.6 Responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with Company Standards as laid out in the manuals of procedure, and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
4.7 Will assist with any additional tasks within the context of the job description.
